One-to-One Support Worker

We're seeking to appoint an experienced/enthusiastic Pre-School Support Worker to provide support to a child with special needs on a one-to-one basis, Three mornings a week  for a fixed term of 1 year from September 2011.

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide support on a one-to-one basis to a child with special needs
  • Help plan the child's next developmental steps and prepare resources for learning: developing and adapting materials where required.
  • Play a pivotal role in documenting the child's progress, writing reports as required, providing both verbal & written feedback to the parents/carers
  • Liaise closely with the parents/carers, pre-school Leader & other team members together with a range of other SEN professionals to ensure the child reaches their full potential
  • Work as part of a highly motivated and professional team under the direction of the pre-school leader to contribute to a safe, high quality standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Setting.

Applicants will need to:

  • Hold an NVQ level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, or equivalent qualification ( level 3 is desirable )
  • Previous experience of caring for, or working with children aged 3-5 in a voluntary or paid capacity (any SEN experience, especially in the area of Autistic Spectrum Disorder would be an advantage but not essential)
  • Have a patient, caring & positive disposition; be enthusiastic, committed and empathetic, and have excellent communication & listening skills
  • Have some understanding of the importance of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene in the workplace
  • Show a positive approach to learning & gaining new skills through teamwork & training opportunities

Julie Wllliams

Julie Williams has been with us for nearly 3 years now, firstly as a volunteer, then as a Pre-School Support Worker, and finally as our Pre-School Assistant. She has been a highly respected addition to the team and will be sorely missed my staff, Committee, parents and of course the Children.

Julie has taken on a new role only because of her desire to learn and grow further in a Full time position ( Offwell Under Fives is only open in the mornings).  Julie will join the team at Offwell Primary School as a Permanent Full-Time SEN TA; we wish her every happiness & success in her new role.

Pre-school Assistant Vacancy

We're seeking to appoint a Temporary Pre-School assistant;  an enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated individual will be required to take advantage of this opportunity. The successful candidate will have to
demonstrate a genuine passion for providing the highest standards in quality childcare.
Strong communication skills and team-working abilities are essential

The successful applicant will:
  • Work as part of a highly motivated and professional team under the direction of the pre-school leader to contribute to a safe, high quality standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Setting
  • Operate a keyworker system and liaise with parents/carers, and senior staff
  • Plan, organise and implement a programme of activities to meet the needs of this age group

Applicants will need to:
  • Hold an NVQ level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, or equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience of caring for, or working with children aged 3-5 in a voluntary or paid capacity
  • Have Some understanding of the importance of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene in the workplace
  • Have Enthusiasm for working with young children

In addition, you’ll need to be flexible and creative, with the commitment to provide first class childcare.

Contract - Temporary

Hours of work – 3 days a week 8.45am – 1.30pm

Our Previous Deputy Leader

Michele Young
Michele has been working with us for almost 5 years ...and before that, she was on the Pre-school committee for 3 years! On joining us as a volunteer assistant, Michele quickly made her mark and applied for, and got, the position of Pre-School Assistant; then, going from strength to strength, with her qualifications (and currently undertaking her Level 5 in Leadership and Management, she became our Deputy Play-leader! Michele’s name is quite frankly, synonymous with Offwell Under Fives!

We would like to be very clear about why Michele Young is leaving us at the end of the school Year. It's simply, because of her desire to learn and grow further; Michele felt that it was time to progress to a new challenge:  she has applied for, and accepted the post Of Pre-School Leader at another local Pre-School. We would have loved to see her stay, but certainly understand her need to advance beyond the positions we have available. We wish her every happiness & success in her new role.

We're seeking to appoint a Deputy Pre-School Leader for five mornings a week from September 2011.This is an unrivaled opportunity to work with one of the region’s top Pre-Schools and requires a suitably high-performing individual. The Successful Applicant will :
  • Provide the highest standards of childcare and education – to include the monitoring and reviews of the Pre-School,  providing a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities

Applicants will need to:
  • Hold an NVQ level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, or equivalent qualification     ( NVQ level 4 is desirable )
  • Have previous experience of caring for, or working with children aged 0-5 in a voluntary or paid capacity
  • Be committed to the provision of high quality childcare with an interest in the care, learning and development of young children
  • Have good organisational, record keeping and planning skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with colleagues, parents, carers and children
