“Big Summer Meet Up”

Bicton Park Botanical Gardens

Calling all Toddlers, Preschoolers and their Parents - Kelly Gatehouse is organizing a
“Big Summer Meet up” at Bicton Park Botanical Gardens and she has organized a fantastic group rate for us all:

Children - £2.95 (normally £5.95)
Adults - £3.95 (normally £6.95)
All Under 3 years - free
Train ride - £1.00 per person (normally £1.80 Adult & £1.30 child)
And for those lucky Annual pass holders out there - free admission but Kelly can even get the Train discount for you too!

All discounted Admission tickets and Train Ride Tickets must be paid for in advance.

Please put your name/s on the list at Pre-School or Toddlers and then pay Kelly direct A.S.A.P. - you can catch her before or after any pre-school or toddler session. Any Questions – Email Kelly

Leavers Celebration 2010

Another highlight of our year was the Leavers Celebration; in which we invited all the children and their families to say a fond farewell to the children, who in September, will be putting on new school uniforms and moving up to Offwell C of E Primary School.
It was an excellent opportunity for our children to reflect on what has happened over the past year and for them all to perform a “little special something” for the audience! There were definitely a few stars in the making!

Our leavers were also presented with a book and book plate to commemorate their time with us and their move up to Big School. Each child was also given their development folder to keep, packed full of photo’s and info’ of what they have achieved whist at pre-school along with a laminated personalised “report” read out by their key worker...lots of tissues needed for that one!

The event was also marked with: a Fundraising Raffle, along with games and stalls for the children and yet even more scrumptious cakes and biscuits from our excellent bakers!

Thank you to all our Staff, Friends and Families who attended and helped to make this occasion so special !

Goodbye and Good luck to all our Leavers; we are all very proud of you!

As this was also a Fundraiser, I’m sure you’ll all be pleased to hear that you raised over £115 - Once again, Thank You very much to everyone who attended!

One of the Highlights of the Pre-School is year is our Annual Sports Day!!

It’s a really enjoyable day for the whole family and on Monday 12th July the sun was shining and the Children were bouncing around in the sack race, as well as taking their marks for running races and the egg and spoon.We even had members of our Toddler group “at the ready”...some of them are really speedy! Afterwards all the children had a well deserved drink and biscuit and were each presented with a winner’s medal and a Sports Day certificate whilst parents enjoyed refreshments in the hall...thank you very much to all the yummy cake bakers! .. A BIG well done to all the children for participating and a BIG Thank You to all the parents, grandparents and siblings for coming along and supporting us - A great time had by all!

FATHERS’ STORY WEEK
14-20 JUNE 2010

Fathers’ Story Week, the brainchild of the Fatherhood Institute, will see Offwell Under Fives along with Thousands of pre-schools, schools and nurseries across the UK take part in the first ever ‘Fathers’ Story Week’

There is a wealth of evidence that children’s attainment benefits if their father is involved in their care and education – and Fathers’ Story Week is part of a major campaign to encourage dads and father figures to play that greater role in their children’s learning and development. It highlight’s the importance of “dad's” taking an active role in their child's education and the positive impact they have on their children's learning and development.

What a fantastic experience FATHERS STORY WEEK has been - It was thoroughly enjoyed by all!

The children were all exceedingly proud to share with us their “Dad in a Box” – we’d like to say a big thank you to all the Dad’s who managed to “capture the essence of themselves in a box”! And an extra special thank you must go to: Uncle Buncles Bakery in Honiton, who baked the most delicious shortbread bunny biscuits for the event!

Offwell Under Fives are very enthusiastic about becoming more 'father-inclusive'; helping dads, as well as mum’s, to be as involved as possible in their children's education. We hope that it’ll encourage those who have not yet visited pre-school as a parent/carer volunteer to do so, and to help us take part in more "dad-friendly" activities in future...

Tea Pot Tales will be visiting us on Tuesday 18th May

We are thrilled that Cara from Tea Pot Tales will be visiting us on Tuesday 18th May from 9.30am.

Tea Pot Tales takes children on an enchanting storytelling adventure; starting with a magical teapot that has something or someone inside!

Using props, storytelling and music the children then join in the magic story, meeting the characters along the way, taking part in activities, singing, dancing and playing...captivated & Involved at all times!

Tea Pot tales will be held from 9.30 and is within our normal session but your more than welcome to stay and join in the fun. We are also inviting the toddler group with their parents to join us.

WOW! What a wonderful morning we all had!

We’d like to say an enormous Thank you to Cara from Tea Pot Tales, for visiting our pre-school and whisking the children, and adults, off on a Magical Story Morning.

We were all, truly mesmerized by Cara’s interactive storytelling; Kay, our pre-school leader said “it was perfectly aimed at our age level, the children were absolutely captivated...they were with her all the way” Michelle our deputy said “She was an inspiration; the children were enthralled!”

Both Adults and Children really enjoyed the active part they were able to play in the story. One grandparent said “it was a fantastic experience for all the generations” A mum from our toddler group remarked “what a great group activity, my son really came out of himself”

Whilst the Pre-School children said “There was someone in a teapot!””It was the bestest thing Ever!” “I loved every minute of it” and one of our toddlers said “can we do it all over again tomorrow mum? I loved it.”

...we would highly recommend Cara & her Teapot Tales to anyone with young children.

Offwell Primary Schools' Sponsored Walk

Offwell C of E Primary School : Sponsored Walk

The primary school would like to invite the Pre-School children and their families to their Sponsored Walk on Friday 14th May, beginning at 1.20pm.

The Sponsored Walk through Offwell Woods is always a highlight on their calendar –enjoyed by all! Everyone is welcome to join the walk - including well behaved dogs! And O.S.C.A.R. are providing refreshments!

A Sponsorship Form will be on display at Pre-School. This year the Primary school will be raising money for a ‘trim trail’ for all the children - to be built in Helen’s Meadow (the field next to the Reception class). The children will vote on what design they would like...
