WOW…What a Night!
Thanks to your generosity at all our recent fundraising events, Children at Offwell Under fives Pre School will soon be learning new skills whilst having lots of fun at the same time, using their new laptop computer and printer.
It’s an EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), curriculum requirement for children in Pre School to have access to various forms of ICT equipment and we recognise the huge potential benefits of a laptop as an exciting & stimulating learning tool & the great head start it’ll give our children when it comes to learning computer skills.
ICT allows children to engage positively in imaginative, active learning. It can motivate, provide practice, reassure, build confidence, encourage children to persist in taking the next steps and build their self-esteem. Indeed, don’t we as we adults continually express the wish that: all of this had been available when we were young, as we’d learned so much more!
ICT plays a huge part in everyone's life no matter how old they are. We find ourselves surrounded by 'technology' in our homes, our work places and in the local environment. Children are also surrounded by these 'technologies' in their everyday lives and need to recognise the role ICT plays in their lives.
However, we are responsive to the fact that technology is not "just a computer with Early Years software installed". Technology, is anything where the children can press a button and make something happen; it’s the beginnings of children understanding that technology requires programming, and that they can be in control of making things happen! A laptop and printer will add to the pre-schools existing ICT equipment for the children.

Once again, Thank you so much for enabling us to purchase such an enriching piece of educational kit for the pre-school...we really couldn’t have done it without your help!
